The players of head coach Ifet Mahmutovic met on the court in the Big Finale one of the biggest favourites for winning the Gold - defending champions Iran. The Iranians turned out to be too strong for the Bosnians, outclassing them at 3-1.

Bosnia opened the match in their favour after 25-22. The second set was a real spectacle, with the two teams breathing down each other’s necks. However, after a close call, Iran showed nerves of steel and tied the set score at 1-1 after 30-28. Inspired, they took control over what was happening on the court in the third set, emerging victorious at 25-16. Despite Bosnia’s attempts to turn the tables in the fourth set, Mahmutovic’s players couldn’t find their way to the win, losing at 14-25.

The better performance on attack and from the serving line were the key to the success for the Iranians this evening. They finished with 64 winning spikes (to 33) and with 11 aces (to one). Bosnia, on the other hand, were better on blocking (19 to 10 kill blocks).

Morteza Mehrzadselakjani of Iran topped the charts with 27 to his name, while his teammate Hossein Golestani added 21. For Bosnia, Ermin Jusufovic finished with 16, and Mirzet Duran recorded 12.
