The 3rd Mediterranean Beach Games are celebrated every four years bringing together the athletes of the Mediterranean Olympic Committees from three continents: Africa, Asia and Europe.
This year saw Sitting beach volleyball make its debut in Crete where 5 European nations showcased the discipline in two separate events: Men’s and Women’s Sitting Beach volleyball.

For the first time a Siting Beach Volleyball Tournament was hosted in these games under the coordination of the Hellenic Paralympic Committee in close cooperation with the Mediterranean Beach Games Organising Committee, World Para Volley and ParaVolley Europe. The tournament took place between Thursday 14th and Friday 16th September 2023 in Heraklion where athletes competed alongside 13 other sports.

It was a unique opportunity to establish a Para Sport into the Mediterranean Beach Games and promote Sitting Beach Volleyball in a truly magical environment. It was also the opportunity for the Hellenic Paralympic Committee to show their renewed commitment to the Paravolley discipline.
Bosnia & Herzegovina showed their supremacy in the sand by winning the men’s tournament while Slovenia won the women’s tournament in the continuity of their successful beach summer.
