Balikesir, Turkey, 25 June 2023 – Bosnia & Herzegovina found themselves a set down but recovered immediately to thunder past Ukraine 3-1 (19-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-8) in the final of the 2023 Sitting Volleyball Men’s European Golden Nations League, here Sunday evening.

It was the Balkan side’s third gold medal in as many editions of the competition since its introduction in 2021.
Bosnia & Herzegovina were led throughout by captain Mirzet Duran who was named MVP of the competition and led a Dream Team of the top players of the three-day, four-team tournament.

Previously on the closing day, Croatia had outlasted hosts Turkey 3-2 (25-18, 21-25, 15-25, 25-9, 16-14) in a thriller of a game to pick up the bronze medal. It was the only five-setter of the tournament, but a match high (indeed, a tournament high) of 30 points by Turkey captain Mehmet Yilmaz was just not enough for the hosts to score their first win – and they ended up winless in fourth place.
Earlier on Sunday Bosnia & Herzegovina had cruised through the semifinals with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-14) of Turkey aided by 12 points from Duran and Ukraine had narrowly and excitingly edged Croatia 3-1 (25-14, 20-25, 26-24, 29-27) for the other ticket to the final on the back of a match high of 26 points by Denys Bytchenko.
